Muzeul Satului (“Village Museum”) was founded in the 1930s and includes authentic peasant houses and farms, churches and ethnographic collections from all over Romania, to illustrate architectural and regional diversity. Most of the houses and churches are open to the public.
This outdoor museum makes a pleasant walk in any season and is as close to rural life as one can get in the heart of Bucharest. You will be impressed by the intricate details of vernacular architecture. You can also taste local food specialties at the museum’s restaurant.
You can buy wonderful craftsmanship products and souvenirs from the museum shop, beautifully decorated Easter Eggs and ethnographic pottery.
