La Glorieta de Belgrano (Tango)

La Glorieta de Belgrano is an open-air milonga held beneath a wrought-iron bandstand in Barrancas de Belgrano, a hillside park in the Belgrano district of Buenos Aires. It has run for more than a decade and is generally described as the only regular outdoor milonga in the city, organised by local dancers rather than by a commercial promoter. Sessions take place several evenings a week, including at weekends, when a class is offered before the dancing begins. Music is recorded rather than live, played through a simple sound system, with coloured lights strung around the bandstand. Entry is free and the crowd is a mix of neighbourhood residents, students and visiting dancers rather than an audience for a staged show, which is the main distinction from the tango dinner shows elsewhere in the city. Dancing can finish earlier than advertised on quiet nights, so arriving soon after the stated start is advisable, and days are worth confirming through the organisers' social media.
