Downtown Katameya, also referred to as Downtown Mall, is an open-air shopping centre on 90th Street in the Fifth Settlement district of New Cairo, developed by Marakez. It is laid out as a low-rise outdoor precinct rather than an enclosed mall, built around landscaped courtyards, fountains and walkways. The retail mix leans towards higher-priced international and regional brands alongside a number of cafes and restaurants, mostly arranged around open-air seating. Compared with larger enclosed developments such as Cairo Festival City the range of shops is limited, and the centre functions more as a dining and strolling destination than a full retail hub. General opening runs from around 8am to midnight, though individual shops and restaurants set their own hours within that window. Parking is provided on site and the development includes landscaped green space. It draws custom mainly from the surrounding New Cairo compounds rather than from central Cairo, and is consistently described as quieter and smaller in scale than the district's larger centres.
