Catania’s raw, theatrical fish market, tucked just behind Piazza del Duomo by the Amenano fountain and running here since at least the 1500s. Fishmongers holler and gesture over glistening swordfish, squid, octopus and shellfish, much of it landed that morning — a genuine, photogenic slice of old Catania. Free to wander (mornings, Monday to Saturday); watch the wet floor and come hungry, with seafood osterias right on the edge.
