Run by a pair of Sardinian brothers, La Vecchia Signora is conveniently nestled in a side street of the old city, not far from the main shopping street. They serve traditional classics such as spaghetti with clams and cherry tomatoes, veal fillets with gorgonzola and of course their famous thin and crispy pizzas.

Why you should visit it
Unlike the electric pizza ovens you'll find in most restaurants these days, the huge oven here is imported from Italy and gets twice as hot, meaning the pizzas they produce are crispier and with a smokier flavour.
Special tip
On a warm day, head for the beautiful courtyard out back.
