Why locals love it
On any given weeknight, Mezcal can be a cozy neighborhood spot to grab a fresh plate of tacos or saucy burritos, enchiladas and chile relleno. On Friday evenings, especially if there's a show on at the Bluebird theater across the street, the place comes alive with a younger crowd enjoying plenty of the namesake liquor among many others.
Why you should visit it
The food is well prepared, the walls are plastered in posters of lucha libre fighters and there are more types of tequila on offer than cacti in Mexico. The happy hour from 3-6pm is a bargain for food, beer, shots and cocktails. If you count yourself as part of the late night crew, the evening happy hour from 10pm-1am is just as good of a deal.
Special tip
In true Tijuana style, late night happy hour includes tacos for only $1.50 a piece! Kitchen open till 1am Friday and Saturday.
