It is the everyday shopping market for residents, distinct from the smaller stalls in the Old Town, selling fruit, vegetables, cheese, eggs, honey and flowers alongside a dedicated fish section supplied by boats from the Elafiti Islands and the wider Adriatic. Fish arrives freshest early in the morning, and Friday and Saturday are generally the busiest and best-stocked days. Stalls open from around 06:30, with trading running to roughly 13:00 and extending later in summer; Sunday is limited to the morning. Prices are set by individual stallholders and are generally lower than in Old Town shops, which is the main reason to make the trip out. It is a few minutes on foot from the Gruz ferry port.
