The Archivist Garden is a wee bit of green space between the General Register House and the New Register House. It's quite hidden and generally not well known even by locals - I passed the spot regularly for about 2 years completely unaware of this secret garden.
Perfect place for a quiet lunch break, just a few steps away from the busiest junction in town! The plants for the garden have been selected to represent events (birth, marriage, death), famous Scots, tartans and heraldry, so you can learn about history as well as symbols. For those tired of sightseeing, there are quite a few benches around.
Only open at the register's office hours. Enter through the big gates of New Register House and keep right.
