Fresh, made-to-order pizza in the heart of Santo Spirito—what could be better? Italian cuisine is extremely regional, and Tuscany isn't known for producing great pizza. Any place purporting to put out "the best Florentine pizza" is probably a tourist trap. Gusta Pizza, however, is owned and operated by southern Italians who make a mean margherita.
The short menu consists of simple, delicious, cheap pizzas, fluffy and southern (not thin-crust, Roman style). You can't go wrong with a margherita—basic mozzarella, tomato sauce and basil—but the Calabrese is another top pick. You can either dine inside or enjoy your pizza on the steps of the historic Basilica Santo Spirito, a stone's throw away.
Be extra nice and you'll get a camera-worthy, heart-shaped pizza. (This isn't unique, though, so don't mistakenly assume you're being hit on!)
