The Mercato Centrale is the perfect fusion of traditional and new. Downstairs, dozens of vendors churn out fresh regional produce, meat, cheese and more. In early 2014, the upstairs portion reopened after undergoing a modern, stylish makeover. There's a snazzy wine bar, cocktail choices, various cafes and dining options, and even a cooking school.
For the sights, smells, & sounds, not to mention the shopping! It's the perfect place to stop in for a change of scenery when you tire of Renaissance paintings and churches. If you're staying in an apartment and want to cook dinner in one night, this is where you should shop! But you can also grab a quick sandwich for lunch or any number of snacks.
The upstairs portion is open every day until midnight, but the downstairs portion is closed on Sundays and closes in the afternoon at 14pm.
