Mercado La Libertad (Liberty Market) is the largest one in the whole Latin America, where you can find basically anything. Locals go there for shopping, breakfast & lunch, for buying basic daily articles, among others... First floor is full of souvenirs and groceries. On the 2nd floor you can have a great and cheap local meal. Enjoy!
By default, local markets not only represent the culture of the cities and its citizens but also offer a great opportunity for having a great local meal. This place is simply full of the Guadalajara essence: extremely tasty and colorful. Great option to get into the local culture.
After having a tasty lunch, try Jericalla, best dessert you could ever have (quite similar to creme brulee but waaaay better).
