Going since 1703, the Sunday-morning market by the Elbe is as much theatre as shopping, thanks to the shouting Marktschreier and their piled-up baskets.
Buy fish, fruit, plants and flowers, pick up a Fischbrötchen, then step into the Fischauktionshalle where live bands play to an early crowd.
Local tip: Sundays only, 05.00-09.30 (from 07.00 between mid-November and mid-March) — the stalls pack up sharply at half nine.
