The world renowned outdoor seated bronze Buddha statue sits calmly on a three-storey pedestal. The 34-metre tall statue weighs 250 tonnes. It was built over 12 years’ time. Measuring 30 square metres, the solemn face of the bronze Buddha statue was cast in a single piece. Visitors could appreciate the Buddha’s relic, the most sacred item of Buddhism, and worship the Buddha in the exhibition hall inside the pedestal.
Lantau Peak or Fung Wong Shan (literally "Phoenix Mountain" in Chinese) is the second highest peak in Hong Kong and the highest point on Lantau Island, with a height of 934 metres above sea level. It is most famous for the sunrise or sunset scenery viewed from the summit.
We will start from Tung Chung metro station, take the bus to Ngong Ping, visit Po Lin Monastery & Big Buddha, and finally hike up to Lantau Peak.
We recommend to spend a day at Lantau Island. Therefore it takes around 9 hours for the day tour.
If we have time, I will show you the most well known fishing village in Hong Kong & have a delicious seafood meal there.
