Why locals love it
In Kaldoaivi there also is a wreckage of a Junkers JU-52 conveyor that was shot down by Russians in 1944. The plane was on its way from Lakselv to Kirkenes. After a small search, the plane is found about 700 meters north of Lake Ylä-Pulmankijärvi and 150 meters east of Pulmankijoki.
Why you should visit it
The machine has remained in good condition because the nearest road is so far away that none wants to drag the wreckage to for a souvenir. Junkers cruised at just over 200 km / h, making it an easy target for a Russian fighter that reaches over 500 km / h. A 20-millimeter cannon and a 7.62-millimeter machine gun instantly knocked holes on its sides

The plane was not destroyed in the fire, and the pilot decided to attempt a forced landing on the mountain plateau.
