Karhutupa is a cafe and souvenir shop at the car park for Karhunpesakivi, the Bear's Nest Stone, beside the road between Ivalo and Inari in Finnish Lapland. Karhunpesakivi is a large hollow boulder, described as Finland's largest tafoni, a cavity weathered out of rock by water and repeated freezing and thawing; a Sami account attributes the name to a reindeer herder who sheltered inside during a storm and found a hibernating bear already there. A staircase of several hundred steps climbs from the car park to the rock and continues to a viewpoint over Lake Inari. The cafe serves coffee and baked goods along with dishes such as sauteed reindeer and smoked fish, and sells handicrafts and souvenirs. It trades seasonally rather than year-round, opening over the summer months; exact dates are not published consistently, so checking before travelling is worthwhile. The site is roughly midway between Ivalo and Inari village and is reached by car or by the bus running that route.
