Photo: Wikimedia CommonsA short walk from Asan, Indra Chowk is Kathmandus traditional bead and textile bazaar, famous for the pote sellers who string glass-bead necklaces worn by married women. Shophouses spill over with pashmina, blankets and fabric, framed by the ornate facade of the Akash Bhairav temple above. It is colourful, crowded and thoroughly local. Come for pote beads and shawls, watch the sellers thread strands to order, and photograph the temple lions guarding the square.
