Drilling through the ice on a quiet private pond and then eating salmon soup beside an open fire is Finnish winter at its most unhurried.
Roughly five hours including a 45-minute transfer, all fishing gear, instruction and a hot lunch. Winter only, once the ice is thick enough.
Local tip: Pickup from Kemi or Tornio is included, so no car is needed. Dress in thick layers, as sitting still on ice gets cold fast.
