Joiku Pub is the legendary late-night spot of Äkäslompolo, open nightly from 9pm to 2am with karaoke, a dance floor and a strong local flair. Long-time village residents mix with visitors here, which gives it a different feel from the more polished hotel bars nearby.
It shares premises with the neighbouring pizzeria Ylläksen Eväskori, so you can order food alongside your drinks, including a beer-infused pizza that's become a bit of a local in-joke.
Local tip: Go after 10pm once the karaoke gets going – earlier in the evening it's quiet.
