Käylänkoski

One of the most photogenic spots on the upper Kitkajoki, the Käylänkoski rapids tumble right through Käylä village, about 36km north of Kuusamo. A little riverside park (Koskipuisto) with a laavu shelter lets you sit by the rushing water, spot dipping white-throated dippers and watch trout and grayling in the current. It’s a lovely short stop in its own right and the launch point for classic Kitkajoki whitewater rafting trips in summer.
