Dream Island is the largest indoor waterpark in Ukraine and a reliable rainy-day (or freezing-winter-day) favourite for Kyiv families. Tucked onto the upper floor of the Dream Town shopping mall out in the Obolon district, it opened in 2011 and sprawls across roughly 25,000 square metres, themed as a prehistoric 'Lost World' of blue lagoons, jungle planting and dinosaurs.
There is a lot packed in: fourteen water slides designed by the Turkish specialist Polin, wave pools, current pools, a jacuzzi, a spread of saunas and steam rooms, and a generous children's area for younger swimmers. A swim-up aqua bar means grown-ups can take it easy while the kids wear themselves out on the flumes.
Local tip: It sits between Minska and Heroiv Dnipra metro stations, so it is an easy ride from the centre without a car. As with everything in Kyiv right now, check current opening hours before you set out, and bring your own flip-flops and a towel to save on rentals.
