This square is officially called "Plaza de Santa María del Camino", as it is situated behind a church with this name. In the Middle Ages the Leonese people gathered here to trade and sell their crops, hence the local name "Square of the wheat grain".

This square is right in the centre of León. It is full of bars and pubs, but this square is not that touristy, so it's the perfect place to come to if you want to experience León as a local.
The 1769 fountain in the middle of the square has the sculptures of two children representing the confluence of the Torío and Bernesga rivers of León.
