There is a chapel, Nossa Senhora do Monte, that is known to be frequently visited by pregnant women to seek divine protection for child-birth. On an old wall, some tiles remember a country of discoverers, emigrants and soldiers: “Boa viagem. Lisboa espera por ti.” – Have a nice trip! Lisbon awaits you.

With a half-moon’s shape and a masterful light, it has great conditions to observe and photograph. The views include São Jorge’s Castle, Mouraria neighborhood, Carmo Convent, Monsanto, Tejo estuary (and “Mar da Palha”, translating Straw’s Sea, a basin in the Tejo estuary near its mouth). All this locations are pointed in a beautiful tile panel.
One of the Lisbon’s viewpoints least visited and also the highest point in the city, but probably the one with the most dazzling views of Lisbon.
