1. Slovak Pub

KGB Pub (Krcma Gurmanov Bratislavy)

Not the secret police – here KGB stands for Krcma Gurmanov Bratislavy, the “Gourmet Pub of Bratislava.” A cheeky, history-themed spot in the centre where Soviet and Czechoslovak leaders watch over you as you tuck into good food and cold beer.

Port Louis Central Market

The buzzing heart of the capital – fresh produce, fish and spices alongside handicrafts and some of the island’s best street food. Bargain for souvenirs, then try an almond alouda, a dholl puri and a farata like the locals do.

Arat Kilo

A historic square built around a monument marking Ethiopia’s liberation from Italian occupation (1936-1941). Known locally as “Four Kilo,” it’s a good place to get a feel for modern Ethiopian history – look up to spot the Lion of Judah on top.

Bois Cheri Tea Factory

Mauritius’s oldest tea plantation and the name behind its most famous brand. Tour the working factory and museum, then taste teas at the hilltop restaurant with a sweeping panoramic view. It forms part of the island’s “Route du Thé” heritage trail.

Bambi’s Grocery

One of the oldest and best-stocked supermarkets in Addis, handy for its central location and wide selection with friendly staff – a reliable stop for imports and everyday supplies.

Shiro Meda Market

The best market in Addis for handwoven cotton clothing – colourful scarves, dresses and shawls trimmed with traditional embroidery, plus small gifts like T-shirts and jewellery. Bargaining is part of the fun; you can even watch weavers at work nearby.

A narrow, blogger’s-closet of a shop tucked off Sainte-Catherine’s shopping strip, where Montreal’s fashion crowd comes for the latest looks. New stock lands weekly – edgy dresses, statement tees and bold accessories from a rotating cast of trend labels.

Strada Arthur Verona

One of the prettiest corners of central Bucharest, where the walls are covered in vivid murals. Everyone comes to photograph the graffiti and soak up the colour – an easy, free stop on a city-centre wander.
