One of the greenest parts of East LA, Echo Park Lake is the perfect place to take a nap, sunbathe, picnic, and hang out. While most tourists find the only way to catch some sun is to flock to the beach, the park is full of locals laying out in the grass or catching rays on the lake. Vendors also sell authentic Mexican snacks and refreshments.
The pedal boats are only ten dollars for an hour, and from the lake you get an amazing view of Downtown LA. The boats are closed after the sun goes down on the weekends, and if you do manage to catch the sunset you are in for a special treat. The park's greenery is beautiful at all times of the day, and the grass is a nice place for a midday nap.
