Perched on Mount Hollywood, the Griffith Observatory offers free entry, absorbing science exhibits and one of the great views over the LA basin and the Hollywood Sign. Come at dusk to watch the city light up. Entry and the grounds are free; come for sunset, stay for the city lights, and take a look through the public telescope.
