The spectacular crystal palace in the wonderful Retiro gardens, is one of the most romantic places in all of Madrid. Locals come here for walks around the little lake, while taking in the view of this glass-wonder hiding among the trees.

Why you should visit it
The palace originally contained tropical plants from the Philippines, but is now used for exhibitions hosted by the popular art-museum Reina Sofia. Therefore you will happen to find abstract art under the beautiful dome, which is free to visit. Outside and around you can find buskers playing background music for this idyllic setting.
Special tip
Keep an eye on the lake in front of the palace which contains a bunch of turtles, relaxing along the shore on warm and sunny days.
