Bois Cheri town hosts the oldest tea plantation, and gave its name to our most famous tea brand. The tour includes visit of the plant, the museum, and a tea tasting in the Bois Cheri Restaurant with a breathtaking panoramic view. Prices are Rs300 (EUR8/USD10) for residents and Rs500 (EUR13/USD18) for non-residents.
Aside from the great landscape, the Bois Cheri Tea Factory represents an important piece of Mauritian history. It belongs to the St Aubin domain and is the second step of the Tour "La Route du Thé", which links the Aubineaux Colonial House to the St Aubin Domain. The whole tour costs Rs2000 (EUR52/USD65) with lunch at St Aubin (Rs1500 residents.)
Don't take the whole tour. During winter, the tea processing takes place only on Wednesday so I recommend visiting in the morning.
