A Cold War command centre 65 metres beneath Taganka, declassified and reopened as a museum of Soviet civil defence, tunnels and communications equipment.
Entry is by guided tour only, descending 293 steps into the tunnels for themed programmes on the bunker's construction and the crises it was built for.
Local tip: The English-language tour runs on weekdays in the afternoon — book ahead. Metro Taganskaya, then a short walk.
