Tea Centre

Why locals love it

Tea Centre was first opened in 1953 by the Tea Board of India, and, although it has been through many incarnations and management changes since then, it is a rare survival from the past in a city that is constantly changing, and an oasis of serenity amid the hustle and bustle of the Churchgate area.

Why you should visit it

The main attraction is the wide selection of teas, including the famous “first flush” Darjeeling tea, oolong tea, white tea (made from buds), Kashmira kahwa, rose tea, jasmine green tea and hot buttered apple tea. Also try the fish thermidor and the poached fish in lemon sauce.

Special tip

The restaurant includes an outlet which sells tea, offering a wide selection at the lowest prices available anywhere in the city.
