Kek Lok Si, perched on a hillside at Air Itam, is one of the largest Buddhist temple complexes in Southeast Asia, a spectacular cascade of prayer halls, pagodas and gardens crowned by a towering bronze statue of the goddess Guanyin. The seven-storey Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas blends Chinese, Thai and Burmese styles. Small ticketed sections and the inclined lift give access to the upper levels; the temple is especially dazzling when lit up during Chinese New Year.
