A farmers' market trades on the embankment every Saturday from 8am to 2pm, running from February to December, with stalls of seasonal fruit and vegetables, pastries, mushrooms, fresh fish, cheese, eggs and handicrafts; when a large event occupies the embankment the market moves temporarily to Palackeho namesti. A row of vaulted stone alcoves built into the embankment wall houses cafes, galleries and bars, and boats moored along the bank operate as bars, restaurants and event spaces in the warmer months. Consumption of alcohol on the embankment between midnight and 8am was restricted under rules introduced in the early 2020s. The stretch is reached on foot from the Karlovo namesti or Vyton tram stops, or from Narodni trida metro station. It is busiest on market mornings and on summer evenings.
