Terrasse Dufferin

Terrasse Dufferin 4 in Quebec City

The grand wooden boardwalk running beside Château Frontenac, high above the St Lawrence. It is the essential Quebec City promenade, sweeping river views, street performers in summer and a toboggan slide in winter, and it costs nothing to enjoy.

It links to the Governors' Walk and the stairs climbing toward the Plains of Abraham, so it is a natural start for exploring Upper Town.

Local tip: Come at sunset for the light on the river, then watch the ferry cross to Lévis and back.
