The TeleferiQo is one of the highest cable cars in the world, climbing the slopes of the Pichincha volcano to over 4,000 metres above Quito. A ticketed ride carries visitors up from the city to a breathtaking viewpoint, where the whole of the sprawling capital lies spread out below, ringed by Andean peaks and, on clear days, snow-capped volcanoes. From the top there are trails for hiking higher up the mountain and a chance to feel the thin high-altitude air. Spectacular and exhilarating, it is one of Quito’s most popular attractions.
