Góði hirðirinn

Góði hirðirinn, Reykjavik

Outside centre

“The Good Shepherd” is Reykjavík’s much-loved charity thrift store — the retail arm of the city’s recycling company SORPA, with all profits going to good causes. Now housed in a huge former box factory just outside the centre, it’s an Aladdin’s cave of second-hand furniture, kitchenware, books, records, clothes and outdoor gear at almost give-away prices. A brilliant, sustainable place to browse for a bargain or a quirky Icelandic find — half thrift shop, half accidental museum.
