This lovely house was build 1909, initually for the french consul of Iceland. The main attraction of the place is for its role in the 1986 Reykjavik Summit - the meeting between US president Ronald Reagan and the USSR leader Mikhail Gorbachev.

Why you should visit it

The place holds artifacts commemorating that summit of 1986. The house is believed to be haunted by the spirit of a young woman. The haunting was said to be so extreme that the english consulate, who once lived there, was forced to move away.

Special tip

The foreign ministry once stated: "We do not confirm or deny that the Hofdi has a ghost".
