Fundación Artesanías de Chile is a non-profit, fair-trade-accredited foundation set up to give more than 2,000 Chilean artisans — Mapuche weavers, potters, basket-makers, stone carvers — a proper route to market instead of selling through middlemen. Its flagship shop sits inside Casa de Velasco, a heritage building in the historic centre.
Browse hand-thrown pottery, alpaca textiles, Mapuche jewellery and woven rugs, all made by named artisans rather than imported souvenirs — proceeds go back to the maker and the foundation's craft programmes.
Local tip: It also runs a smaller outpost inside Centro Cultural La Moneda, handy if you're already visiting the palace.
