El Beaterio is an 11-room hotel-museum built on the site of a beaterio – a lay sisters' house – established in 1530 on Calle Duarte, and it wears that history plainly, with exposed-beam ceilings and antique furnishings throughout. It's one of the smaller, more distinctive stays in the Zona Colonial rather than a straightforward boutique hotel.
Breakfast is included and there is a small lounge bar for evenings in.
Local tip: Book early – with only 11 rooms, it sells out well ahead on weekends.
