La Leyenda del Cigarro is a cigar shop and small working factory on Calle El Conde, easy to spot by the wooden Anacaona statue standing outside, where a tabaquero hand-rolls cigars in Dominican style on site. It is one of the few places in the Zona Colonial where you can watch the rolling happen rather than just buy from a shelf.
Worth a stop even if you do not smoke – watching the rolling technique up close is the real draw.
Local tip: Ask the roller which blend suits a beginner if you are new to Dominican cigars.
