The Cooperativa Agrícola de Sintra has supported local farmers across the Sintra municipality since 1952, running agricultural supply shops that double as a genuine window into the region’s farming community rather than a tourist-facing craft shop.
It sells seeds, tools, animal feed and local produce to the farmers who work the land around Sintra’s hills, and its co-operative structure means profits and technical support flow back to member farmers rather than outside shareholders.
It won’t look like a typical souvenir stop, but it’s one of the few places in Sintra where you can see the agricultural backbone of the region still operating much as it always has.
Local tip: This is a working agricultural supplier rather than a retail experience built for visitors — go out of genuine curiosity about how the region’s farming community operates, not for souvenirs.
