The Feira de São Pedro de Sintra is a long-running market held on the second and fourth Sunday of each month in the São Pedro de Penaferrim parish, just south of the historic centre.
Stalls run from antiques and second-hand furniture to household goods, clothing, shoes and local produce, making it as much a browse for residents restocking their homes as a tourist market.
It’s a good way to see a side of Sintra life that has nothing to do with the palace circuit, and prices are noticeably friendlier than the souvenir shops in the old town.
Local tip: Check the date before you plan around it — it only runs on the second and fourth Sundays, not every week.
