Fonte Mourisca is a Moorish-inspired stone water fountain on the walk between Sintra’s train station and its historic centre, free to see and easy to miss if you’re not looking for it.
It marks one of several old water sources that once served the town before piped supply, and its horseshoe-arched design is a small but genuine piece of Sintra’s Moorish architectural heritage.
Most visitors pass it without stopping on their way up to the palaces, but it’s worth the thirty seconds if you’re interested in the town’s older, less photographed corners.
Local tip: Look for it on Volta do Duche, right by the entrance to Parque da Liberdade, so you can take in both on the same short stop.
