Skansen

Djurgarden  •  ★ 4.6  •  $$

Skansen is the world’s oldest open-air museum, founded in 1891, spreading across Djurgarden with historic buildings gathered from all over Sweden. Ticketed visitors wander through farmsteads, workshops and a townscape where costumed staff demonstrate old crafts and trades, while a zoo showcases Nordic wildlife such as bears, wolves and moose. Combining history, nature and Swedish traditions, especially lively during seasonal festivals, it is a wonderful family day out and a living portrait of the country’s past.
