Why locals love it
Lounatkoski is handsome sight especially during the spring flood. The power of the river has been used to grind grain and transporting lumber. The original watermill has been demolished and a similar mill has been rebuild on the spot, the mill is from the nearby Lavajärvi lake.
Why you should visit it
Lumberjack structures in Luonatkoski are well preserved. Build dam as well an oak and a needle store, which are used to regulate the flow of the water in dam. Below the bridge across the rapid and stream, there are swimming tracks visible to public. Lumberjack's cabin has been restored by Metsähallitus as a rental hut. The area is not open.
Special tip
There is free access to the mill and the bridge. The mill's door is unlocked.
