Established in 1945, these markets aren't just another part of the city: they're older than a lot of its residents! And they're the largest seafood market in the Southern Hemisphere, so the variety is suitably immense. Over 14,500 tonnes worth is traded here each year: every fish, crustacean, mollusc and other ocean dwellers you can think of.
Mosey on down any day of the week. Grab your meal from numerous fast food joints, restaurants and cafés. Then lounge about in the dining area that overlooks Blackwattle Bay. If you have time, take a class at the Sydney Seafood School. There's also a bakery, gourmet deli, greengrocer, bottle shop, fishing supplies store and gift shop on site.
Want the catch of the day? You won't find it on the shop floor. Head to the morning auction - held from 5.30am every weekday, except public holidays.
