One of Asia's largest zoos, Taipei Zoo is a much-loved family day out spread across a forested hillside in Wenshan. Its giant pandas, koalas and Formosan native-animal areas are perennial favourites.
Plan for plenty of walking between themed outdoor habitats; it sits right by the Maokong Gondola base for an easy combined day.
Local tip: Come early on a weekday to catch the animals at their most active.
