Tajrish Bazaar, in the affluent north of Tehran, is a smaller, more relaxed alternative to the Grand Bazaar and a favourite with locals. Centred on a lively square near the Imamzadeh Saleh shrine, its lanes overflow with fresh fruit, herbs, nuts, spices, sweets and everyday goods, along with stalls selling handicrafts and household items. Colourful, fragrant and thoroughly authentic, it offers a wonderful glimpse of daily life in the capital and a chance to shop for Persian produce and treats.
