A magnificent library in the heart of Venice, free and public for all the citizens who want consult, read and discover ancient and recent books. it is an important historic building in the city: the idea of its realization became from the poet and writer Francesco Petrarca and as a matter of fact in 1362 he donated his books to the Serenissima.
From the idea of Petrarca two centuries passed and in 1537 Jacopo Sansovino began to built it, then it was completed by Vincenzo Scamozzi. Now there are a monumental part and a museum that you can visit with the unique ticket of the museums of San Marco.
With the same ticket you can visit also Museo Correr, Museo archeologico and Palazzo Ducale.
