Stebuklas tile, Cathedral Square, Vilnius — Stela, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 4.0A single, easily-missed pavement tile in Cathedral Square, stamped with the word ‘stebuklas’ (miracle) — and it carries real history. It marks the Vilnius end of the 1989 Baltic Way, when two million people joined hands in a human chain all the way to Tallinn to protest Soviet rule. Tradition says to stand on it, spin three times clockwise, jump and clap, and make a wish. Find it between the cathedral and the belfry.
While you’re in the city, pair it with a Flavours of Vilnius food tour.
