Why locals love it
Probably in the fifties every working class family was dreaming about a flat in the MDM buildings. It was the showpiece and propaganda district built by the Party for good communists. It was planned in a way to hide the elegant Saviour Church at plac Zbawiciela and glorify the Party.
Why you should visit it
MDM stands for Marszałkowska Housing District located in the heart of Warsaw, an excellent example of early socialist realist architecture. Have a wander around and admire the great reliefs of socialist heroes, the monumental lamp posts at plac Konstytucji and the main marching route along Marszałkowska street.
Special tip
Walk from Centrum via Marszałkowska street to plac Zbawiciela.
