The Royal Castle is the best example of the fine rebuilding process in the Old Town. It was completely destroyed during the World War 2 yet now it shines just like before, being a great testimony of long and troublesome Polish history.
The interior is like from a fairy tale but don't be fooled easily - everything is brand new (the castle was reopened in 1979). If you want to see how Warsaw used to look like there's a great collection of paintings by Bernardo Bellotto - they were used as an example when the city was rebuilt
on Sundays the entrance is free of charge!
